Meera opened her suitcase and stared at the carefully folded clothes, wondering how she was supposed to fit all this into one bag. Three weeks before her new school year began, and here she was, packing for her cousin's wedding in Jodhpur.

Amrita had insisted she start early, probably to avoid the last-minute chaos she swore she had endured at her cousins' weddings. But honestly, Meera was only half-listening—her mind kept drifting back to the last few months of exams, the endless notes, the sleepless nights, and the proud announcement of her top rank in 10th in the state of Maharashtra. Somehow, the thought of finally having some free time made her fingers fumble with her sarees and lehengas.

She picked a deep maroon lehenga, the golden embroidery catching the soft hues of the sunset streaming through her window. Perfect for mehendi, she decided. The thought of walking through the palace halls in Jodhpur, the desert winds brushing against her hair, music floating through the courtyard—it felt like a dream. Weddings were always chaotic, full of colours, people, and traditions, but there was something magical about the idea of it all blending in a palace.

Meera paused for a moment and glanced around her room. Everything was the same—the desk piled with notebooks she hadn't touched since the results came out, the shelf lined with trophies of academics, singing, and dancing, the calendar marked with dates that now felt like a lifetime ago.

Her phone lights up with a message, and she picks it up. It's from Diya.

Diya: Hey!! Already packing??

Meera: Yes.

Diya: EXCUSE ME??? ALREADY PACKING??? 😭🧳
Meera Agarwal, are you moving to Jodhpur permanently or attending ONE wedding?!

Meera: Diya.

Diya: Don't "Diya" me. I can literally imagine you folding clothes like you're preparing for University interviews in lehengas.

Meera: Someone has to be prepared.

Diya: Prepared?? Babe, it's a wedding, not a war.
Although with aunties involved... actually, maybe it is a war.

Meera: Stop.

Diya: I'M NOT EVEN THERE, AND I'M ALREADY SUFFERING.
Do you know how unfair it is that you'll get mehendi, music, cousins, chaos... and I'll be here eating without you to not tell gossip?! And going to a wedding in which you wouldn't be there!!

Meera: Diya, you couldn't come.

Diya: I KNOW 😭
My life is a tragedy—a Shakespearean disaster. The heroine is left behind while the main plot happens without her.

Meera: You're so dramatic.

Diya: Dramatic? Me? Never.
Anyway, what did you pack first? Tell me it's something iconic.

Meera: A maroon lehenga.

Diya: OH. MY. GOD.
Miss Perfect Mehendi Look has entered the chat. Meeru, you're going to look like a royal princess, and I'm going to look like a depressed potato without you.

Meera: Diya...

Diya: Okay, okay, fine. But listen, weddings are never just weddings.

Meera: What does that mean?

Diya: It means... trains, weddings, destiny, accidental bumping into strangers...

Meera: Destiny doesn't exist.

Diya: Says the girl who believes in timetables like they're holy scriptures.

Meera: Diya.

Diya: I'm telling you. Something is going to happen.
Some filmy moment. Some eye contact. Some "excuse me" with background music.

Meera: Please stop.

Diya: NEVER.
Text me everything, okay? Every ritual. Every outfit. Every aunty scandal.

Meera: I will.

Diya: And Meeru?

Meera: Hmm?

Diya: Go live a little for both of us.
And if you meet someone cute on that train... don't forget your best friend exists.

Meera: Bye, Diya.

Diya: BYE. Don't forget bangles!!! 😭💗

Meera smiled to herself as her screen went black and thought about how she'll survive without her bestie—Diya. She has always understood her and supported her when she hit rock bottom.

Then, someone entered the room.

Saanvi entered the room like a whirlwind, eyes immediately landing on the open suitcase.

"What do you want, Saanvi?" Meera asked, already bracing herself.

Saanvi plopped onto the bed dramatically. "Didi, why do you have to pack like you're moving to Mars or something? It's just a wedding, not a survival mission!"

Meera doesn't even look up from folding her lehenga. "Some of us like to be organised," she says calmly.

Saanvi rolled her eyes. "Organised, sure. Or obsessed. You do realise this is three weeks before school starts, right? You could relax a little, maybe breathe, maybe—dare I say—laugh?"

Meera's lips twitched into the smallest smirk, but she stayed quiet.

Saanvi grabbed a dress and flung it into the suitcase. "And why do we even need thirty outfits for a twenty-day wedding? Who are we trying to impress? The whole of Jodhpur?"

"It's tradition, Saanvi," Meera replied. "And maybe a little style doesn't hurt."

"Style? Ha! I am the queen of style," Saanvi declared proudly. "Remember last year? I paired my glittery shoes with—" she paused dramatically, "—a neon green skirt. Boom! Instant fashion icon."

Meera raised an eyebrow. "You looked like a walking highlighter."

"Details, details!" Saanvi laughed.

She leaned back, imagining palaces, music, and endless wedding chaos. "Hey, didi... are we going to get stuck with boring relatives? Because last time, Uncle Mohan told me my hair looked like spaghetti. Spaghetti, can you believe it?"

Meera tried not to laugh, but failed. "Maybe this year you'll get better comments."

"Better?" Saanvi gasped. "Do you even know our family?" She flopped back. "I am cursed. Cursed with relatives who are critics."

Meera shook her head fondly. "Don't worry, Saanvi. I'll protect you from spaghetti hair comments this year."

Saanvi winked. "You'd better, sister dear. Otherwise, I might have to start a rebellion. And who knows, maybe I'll paint them like a devil."

That earned a real laugh from Meera—soft, warm, rare.

Saanvi grinned, satisfied. Weddings meant food, drama, music... and chaos—her favourite kind.

She zipped the suitcase with flair. "Ready, oh serious one?"

"Almost," Meera murmured. "Just checking my jewellery one more time."

Saanvi sighed dramatically. "Fine. But hurry up. We've got a wedding to crash and a palace to explore." She smirked. "And who knows? Maybe someone interesting will be there too."

Meera's fingers paused over her bangles for just a second.

Jodhpur was waiting.

And somehow... everything was about to change.

Parineeti leaned against the doorframe, watching the sisters pack like it was an Olympic sport.

"Arre yaar, Meeru," she groaned dramatically, "tum abhi bhi folding kar rahi ho? Kal shaadi hai, UPSC ka exam nahi!"
(You're still folding? Tomorrow is a wedding, not a UPSC exam!)

Meera doesn't even look up, calmly arranging her bangles. "Some of us like to be organised," she replies, as if chaos were a foreign language.

Parineeti turned to Saanvi, who was aggressively shoving sneakers into her suitcase. "Aur tum?" she laughed. "Tum toh suitcase ko torture de rahi ho!"
(And you? You're literally torturing your suitcase!)

Saanvi tossed a pillow at her. "Parineeti didi, relax! Life is too short for serious packing."

Parineeti spun around with a clutch in her hand like it was a microphone. "Exactly! Shaadi hai, fashion show hai, drama hai—sab kuch ek saath!"
(It's a wedding, a fashion show, drama—everything together!)

Meera finally chuckled. "This wedding is grand. Jodhpur. Palaces. We need to look presentable."

Parineeti gasped. "Presentable? Babe, main toh slay karne jaa rahi hoon. 12th topper ban ne directly royal entry!"
(I'm going to slay. After I literally topped 12th, I'm making a royal entry!)

Saanvi grinned. "Aur dancing bhi?"
(And dancing too?)

"Obviously!" Parineeti laughs. "Music is life. Hum teen milke toh full toofan hain."
(The three of us together are a total storm.)

Saanvi spun dramatically. "Fun, fabulous, and slightly dangerous!"

Parineeti clapped. "Bas! Jodhpur won't know what hit it."

Meera shook her head, smiling now. "You two are impossible."

"And you," Parineeti teased, throwing an arm around them, "are the calm in our chaos. Perfect combo."

The room echoed with laughter, zippers, and teasing. Suitcases were packed, jokes were flying, and excitement sat between them like a secret.

Tomorrow, Jodhpur awaited palaces, marigold garlands, music in the desert air...

And the beginning of something none of them could predict.

Arnav leaned against the doorframe with a lazy grin, arms crossed, watching Meera, Saanvi, and Parineeti turn packing into pure chaos.

"Arre, kya scene hai yahan?" he teased.
(What is going on here?)
"Suitcase packing hai ya fashion week?"

Saanvi whipped around, waving a sock like a weapon. "Arnav bhai! Help karo na!"
(Help, brother!)

He smirked. "Help? Main toh bas chaos badhane aaya hoon."
(I've come to increase the chaos.)

Parineeti laughed, flicking a scarf at him. "Late aaye ho aur jokes shuru!"
(You came late and started joking immediately!)

Meera, calm as always, folded her jewellery neatly. "Arnav bhai, stop distracting them," she said, though her smile gives her away.

Arnav grabbed a bright pink dress and held it up dramatically. "Saanvi, yeh tumhare liye perfect hai. Full neon drama!"
(This is perfect for you. Full neon drama!)

Saanvi groaned. "Bhai, tum serious ho ya bas timepass?"
(Are you serious or just here to waste time?)

"Timepass is my talent," Arnav replies proudly. "Life mein thodi masti toh honi chahiye."
(Life needs a little fun.)

Parineeti shakes her head, amused. "Tumhare sarcasm se room mein energy aa jaati hai."
(Your sarcasm brings energy into the room.)

Arnav grins. "Obviously. Certified chaos manager hoon main."
(I'm a certified chaos manager.)

Meera finally laughed, and Saanvi threw her hands up. "Okay fine... tumhare bina boring hota."
(Without you, it would be boring.)

The room buzzed with laughter, suitcases half-zipped, and the warmth of siblings who know exactly how to annoy—and love—each other.

Jodhpur is waiting. And with Arnav around, peace doesn't stand a chance.

Aarush slipped into the room quietly, already regretting it a little.

Because obviously... chaos is in full swing.

Meera is folding jewellery like she's preparing for a royal coronation, Saanvi is throwing clothes into her suitcase like it's a basketball match, Parineeti is twirling scarves like it's a dance rehearsal...

And Arnav? Of course, he's leaning against the wall like he owns the drama.

Aarush clears his throat. "Arre... yeh packing hai ya chaos?"
(Is this packing or chaos?)

Saanvi gasped dramatically. "Aarush bhai! Tum bhi aa gaye? Help karo na!"
(You came too? Help!)

He blinked slowly. "Help? Main toh bas... shanti dhoondhne aaya tha."
(Help? I came looking for peace.)

Arnav snorted. "Peace? Is room mein?"
(Peace? In this room?)

Parineeti shook her head, amused. "Aarush, tum toh bilkul silent bomb ho."
(You're like a silent bomb.)

Aarush sighed. "Life mein thodi masti zaroori hai... but yeh log toh full tsunami hain."
(A little fun is necessary... but these people are a full tsunami.)

Saanvi pointed at him. "Aur tum snacks police banne aaye ho!"
(And you came to be the snack police!)

Aarush shrugged, calm as ever. "Brother duties. Warna tum train mein bhi chips khatam kar dogi."
(Otherwise, you'll finish all the chips even on the train.)

Arnav grinned. "Double trouble, bhai."

Aarush muttered under his breath, "Main trouble nahi... main bas witness hoon."
(I'm not trouble... I'm just a witness.)

The room burst into laughter anyway.

Aarush leaned back, watching the madness with a small smile.

Jodhpur hasn't even started yet...

And already, the chaos is legendary.

─── 🌷·˖✧·🌷 ───

Down in the Singhnia Mansion in Lucknow during the serene evening, Madhav folded the last of his crisp shirts with military-level precision, making sure every crease is sharp enough to cut through chaos.

Eleventh grade is done. Top marks in Uttar Pradesh in Mathematics and Physics, discipline intact. But this trip isn't about academics.

It's family.

His cousin's wedding in Jodhpur is calling, and as the Brigadier's son, Madhav isn't just attending—he's representing.

His room looked like a museum of achievement: trophies, certificates, everything perfectly arranged. Army life has taught him one thing well—change is constant. New cities, new schools, new beginnings.

He zipped his suitcase halfway, imagining marigold garlands, palace lights, desert winds...

Weddings are loud. Messy. Full of people.

And somewhere inside that noise, the unknown waits.

Maybe something unforgettable.

Maybe someone.

His phone lights up with a message. He checks it. Dev. His online best buddy.

Dev: Oye Indian Air Force Pilot sahab 😭
(Hey, Mr Indian Air Force Pilot sir 😭)
Mumbai shift ho raha hai aur bata bhi nahi raha?
(You're shifting to Mumbai and you didn't even tell me?)

Madhav: Shift nahi... transfer.
(Not shifting... transfer.)
And I told you last week.

Dev: Haan haan, tum toh aise bolte ho jaise army ka official notice ho.
(Yeah, yeah, you talk like you're an official army notice.)
"Dev, I informed you. Signed, Brigadier ka beta." 💀
("Dev, I informed you. Signed, the Brigadier's son.")

Madhav: Discipline is important.

Dev: Discipline is boring.
Anyway, welcome to Mumbai in advance.

Madhav: Not yet. First, there's a wedding in Jodhpur.

Dev: WAIT WHAT 😭
Bro SAME.

Madhav: Same?

Dev: Yes?? I'm literally going to a wedding too.
Indian families are allergic to peace.
(Indian families cannot live without weddings and chaos.)

Madhav: True.

Dev: Mine is in Jodhpur, actually...
But I don't know much, bas family dragged me along.
(Mine is also in Jodhpur, actually... I don't know much; my family just dragged me along.)

Madhav: Jodhpur?

Dev: Haan 😭 So basically both of us are entering the "Shaadi Cinematic Universe."
(So we're both entering the wedding cinematic universe.)

Madhav: Exactly.

Dev: Imagine you meet someone on the train and your life becomes a Bollywood movie. (I already have my girl, I mean, she is like my entire life)

Madhav: That won't happen. And the girl is your childhood best friend, right?

Dev: Madhav, tum insaan ho ya timetable?
(Madhav, are you a human or a timetable?)
Destiny bhi kabhi kabhi surprise deti hai.
(Even destiny gives surprises sometimes.)

Yes, that girl.

Madhav: I don't believe in destiny.

Dev: Bro, you literally believe in Air Force posting orders.
That IS destiny with paperwork.
(That's literally destiny, just with documents.)

Madhav: ...

Dev: HAHAHA caught you.

Madhav: Focus on your wedding.

Dev: Oh, I will.
But listen—Mumbai aane ke baad we're meeting.
(But listen, after you come to Mumbai, we're meeting for sure.)

Madhav: Obviously.

Dev: And if you meet some girl in Jodhpur...
don't act like "I am calm and composed."
Text me immediately.

Madhav: Dev.

Dev: Sahab, I'm serious.
Weddings are dangerous.

Madhav: How?

Dev: Mehendi, music, emotional aunties, and accidental eye contact.
Bas, phir khatam. Life over.
(Mehendi, music, emotional aunties, and accidental eye contact... and then boom, life is over.)

Madhav: You're dramatic.

Dev: I'm an actor-in-training, remember? Drama is my birthright.

Madhav: Fine. I'll update you.

Dev: Good.
Enjoy the wedding. Don't get kidnapped by relatives.

Madhav: And you don't flirt with the bride's cousins.

Dev: No promises 😭💀

Madhav: Idiot.

Dev: Bestie 💗Safe travels, Pilot.

Madhav: Safe travels, Dev.

Across the room, Akash was having a very different packing experience.

He flopped onto his bed dramatically, staring at his suitcase like it personally offended him.

"Seriously, bhai," he groaned, tossing sneakers at Madhav's perfectly folded pile. "Shaadi hai ya army academy?"
(Is this a wedding or an army academy?)

Madhav doesn't even blink. Calm as ever.

"Fun is fine, Akash. Chaos isn't."

Akash smirked. Chaos? That's basically his birth certificate.

"Arre, relax! Weddings are meant for stories, pranks, and maybe... strategic flirting."
(And maybe... flirting, obviously.)

Madhav raises an eyebrow like he's already tired.

Akash threw on his shades like a crown. "Future IPS officer, remember? Adventure is my duty."

Madhav sighs. "Just don't arrest the relatives."

Akash gasped. "No promises."

Parth joined the room next, equally dramatic.

He tossed clothes into his suitcase and groaned, "Tum log itna packing kar rahe ho jaise Antarctica jaa rahe ho!"
(You're packing like you're going to Antarctica!)

Akash laughed. "Exactly!"

Parth pointed at Madhav. "Bhai, tumhare liye har trip ek mission hai kya?"
(Is every trip a mission for you?)

Madhav stayed unbothered. Typical.

Parth grinned. "Jodhpur ka desert sun, palace, music... aur tum log folding competition kar rahe ho!"

Akash clapped him. "Finally, someone sensible."

Madhav muttered, "Sensible is not the word I'd use."

Parth smirked. "Mission one: packing. Mission two: survive relatives. Mission three: meet someone interesting."

Akash's eyes sparkled. "Now THAT is a plan."

Madhav pretended not to smile.

Pretended.

The door bursts open.

Avni barged in like she owns the room, holding a tote bag and unlimited energy.

"Arre bhai log, kya scene hai? Packing hai ya fashion show?"
(What's happening? Packing for a fashion show?)

Madhav looks up calmly. "Avni, you're late."

Avni gasps. "Late? Nahi yaar, timing perfect hai for fun!"
(No, perfect timing for fun!)

She flopped onto the bed near Akash and Parth.

"And guess what? My online friend is in Mumbai too! Wedding ke baad milungi! As we are shifting to Mumbai for Papa's work!
(I'll finally meet her after the wedding!)

Parth chuckled. "Tum bas apni stories mein busy rehti ho."

Avni grinned. "Life needs drama, gossip, aur thodi masti bhi!"
(Life needs drama, gossip, and a little fun!)

Madhav rolled his eyes, but a tiny smirk betrayed him, "Just don't get into trouble."

Avni flipped her hair. "Trouble? Mai? Never."

Akash laughed. "Sure, didi."

The room buzzed with teasing, excitement, and the kind of cousin-energy that can't be controlled.

Jodhpur doesn't even know what's coming.

A tiny squeal filled the room.

Aarohi peeked in, eyes shining like she's about to start a circus.

"Arre bhai log aur Avni di! Kya ho raha hai? Full family meeting?"
(What's happening? Full family meeting?)

Avni grinned. "Aarohi! Help karo!"

Aarohi bounced onto the bed. "Help? Main toh bas mazaak karne aayi hoon!"
(I came only to joke!)

Madhav raised an eyebrow. "Just don't break anything."

Aarohi stuck her tongue out. "Mein drama main sabse zyada laati hoon!"
(I bring the most drama!)

Parth laughed. "Don't start a circus."

Aarohi giggled. "Circus? Maybe. Thoda drama, thodi masti!"
(A little drama, a little fun!)

Madhav sighed, but even he couldn't hide the smile tugging at his lips.

The room is in chaos.

Pure, loud, beautiful chaos.

And this is only packing.

The train ride hasn't even begun.

The wedding hasn't even started.

Destiny is still warming up backstage.

Jodhpur is waiting.

And somewhere between suitcases, laughter, and teenage madness...

Everything is about to change.
